Against team doctors’ advice, Jordan lobbied to return to play. When they finally cleared him for limited minutes, something interesting happened. Unable to rely on his usual explosive first step, Jordan was forced to develop other parts of his game. He spent countless hours working on his jump shot, his post moves, and his basketball IQ. The injury that was supposed to derail his career became the catalyst for his becoming more complete.

By the time his foot fully healed, Jordan wasn’t just back to his old self. He was better.

Someone who has learned to train through and around limitations develops antifragile strength. They’re not just strong—they’re strong in multiple ways, with backup systems and alternative pathways built into their physical capabilities.
